Fair housing

We are pledged to the letter and spirit of United States policy for the achievement of equal housing opportunity throughout the nation. We encourage and support an affirmative advertising and marketing programme in which there are no barriers to obtaining housing because of race, colour, religion, sex, handicap, familial status or national origin.

Those are the classes the federal Fair Housing Act names. Your state, county or city very likely protects more of them — source of income, age, marital status, sexual orientation and gender identity among them — and where local law protects more, local law is what we follow.

The same homes, the same information and the same service are offered to everyone who asks. We do not steer anyone toward or away from a neighbourhood, and we do not describe a neighbourhood by who lives in it. Where this site writes about an area, it writes about what the numbers did.

Accessibility features noted on a listing come from the listing itself. If you need to know whether a home can be adapted, ask and we will find out rather than guess.
